Thanks to our "eye in the sky," the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested a 19-year-old man for a number of residential burglaries in Sarasota yesterday. Around 4:30 p.m., we received a report of a burglary in-progress in the 6000 block of Colonial Drive. Deputies responded and the agency helicopter Air-1 took flight. Once the crew was in the area they spotted the suspect breaking into another house and directed deputies to his location. The suspect, Matthew Benvenuto, was taken into custody and has been tied to at least four break-ins. The investigation is still ongoing.
